The Boeing Employees' Astronomical Society (BEAS) is located in Seattle, Washington and represents just one of over ninety clubs and organizations available to Boeing employees and their families through the Boeing Recreation Program. Chartered with Boeing Recreation in 1979, BEAS promotes all aspects of astronomy, including telescope design, telescope construction, theoretical astronomy, practical astronomy, and astrophotography. Club activities include star parties, lectures, films, demonstrations, field trips and social events. The club also maintains a large inventory of telescopes which may be checked out by the membership as well as an extensive astronomical library.
BEAS is well known in astronomy circles throughout the Pacific Northwest for its participation in and support of a wide variety of events such as National Astronomy Day, Project Astrobio, StarFest, and numerous star parties held around the area. During the summer months BEAS holds monthly star parties at its dark sky observing site located at Peoh Point near Cle Elum, Washington. Local star parties are also held when the weather permits.
