1st Everett BEAS Meeting, A Smashing Success - Posted: Monday, March 17, 2008

The 1st ever, BEAS meeting at the Everett/ Boeing Activity Center was termed a great success. Ten were in attendance as NASA JPL, Solar System Ambassador Greg Donohue presented the Phoenix Lander Mission to Mars schedule to land on May 25th. Door prizes and refreshments were provided. The next Everett BEAS meeting is scheduled for July 24th.  (full story)

BEAS Supports International Dark Sky Association - Posted: Sunday, March 02, 2008

Membership and participation in the International Dark Sky Association is becoming increasingly important throughout Washington. Join IDA as soon as possible. May 25th -Phoenix Lander Party @ Museum of Flight - Posted: Friday, May 02, 2008

The Phoenix lander is scheduled to make a soft landing on Mars on Sunday, May 25th at 4:38:32 PM.
Earth-bound observers, scientists, the spacecraft team and Mars enthusiasts from every corner of Earth will be following the Phoenix Lander's descent and the touch down on Mars.
Live images from NASA TV will be broadcast into the William Allen Theater with narration provided by Solar System Ambassador Ron Hobbs.

May 2008 SkyMap is guide for BEAS Observers  - Posted: Wednesday, December 20, 2006

BEAS Sky Observer's Challenge:
For each month of 2008 BEAS members are challenged to test (and improve)
their observing skills against other BEAS observers in three levels of Star Gazing:
Level 1 – Naked Eye Observers
Level 2 – Binocular Observers
Level 3 – Telescope Observers.
Print a copy of the monthly www.SkyMaps.com as a guide, then fill out an Observing Log reporting to BEAS Observer Challenge the level(s) at which you are competing and all your observations for the month. Results will be compiled and recognition awards will be announced the first week of the month following.
